In 1995, computer animation visionary Ed Catmull and a team of highly creative individuals at Pixar produced Toy Story, the world’s first full-length computer-animated film. Almost 20 years and five Academy Awards later, Catmull, now president of Pixar and Disney Animation Studios, is considered to be an authority on what it takes to unlock creative potential. At his lecture at the Society for Neuroscience’s 2013 meeting, Catmull describes ways to foster creativity and how it intersects with neuroscience.
