The basal ganglia are a group of interconnected structures deep in the brain. These structures play an important role in selecting which actions to perform and making sure we don't perform unwanted actions.
The basal ganglia are comprised of six structures: the caudate nucleus, putamen, nucleus accumbens, globus pallidus, and substantia nigra.
