The cerebrum is the largest part of the human brain. Its outer surface, the cerebral cortex, is a deeply folded layer of nerve tissue. It amplifies the brain’s processing power by making more space for synaptic connections.

The cerebrum can be separated into four distinct lobes. These lobes represent specialized regions associated with functions like thinking, perceiving, planning, understanding language, and controlling voluntary behavior.
